Terminology Briefs

Clear, straightforward English definitions and well-documented French equivalents

Our greatest achievement, without a doubt, is the publication of our Recommandations terminologiques. They are the product of intensive research in periodicals and educational works, in linguistic data banks and among experts in the field. What sets these terminology briefs apart is the wealth of information they contain: each French equivalent comes with a detailed justification, the touchstone of the brief.

In addition, the last few years have seen the NTE comment more often on the relevance and appropriateness of the English terms. Finally, the Network now draws on four or five sources to draft clear and simple definitions when those appearing in traditional glossaries and dictionaries seem too wordy or pompous. The result is a highly readable terminology brief that serves English speakers and French speakers alike.
