Partnerships
Over the past few years, the Network has formed partnerships with a number of organizations active in the language industry in Canada, namely Magistrad and OTTIAQ. Under the agreements framing those partnerships, members can avail themselves of preferential rates on selected activities organized by the partner. Furthermore, each organization undertakes to promote its partner’s activities.
Magistrad
Magistrad is a professional development school for translators founded in 2006 by its president, François Lavallée, cert.trans. Some 1,000 individuals enroll in the school’s courses every year and their feedback can be found in the course descriptions.
Under an agreement signed in June 2009, NTE members can claim a 15% discount on all Magistrad courses. Conversely, anyone registering for an NTE activity can claim a discount if they attended at least one Magistrad course within the last twelve months.
Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ)
OTTIAQ is a regulatory body overseeing reserved titles in translation, terminology and interpretation; it represents more than 2,000 members, all of whom are certified language professionals. As part of its mandate to protect the public, the Order ensures and promotes the competence and professionalism of its members in the fields of translation, terminology and interpretation. In issuing a permit, the Order attests to the competence and professionalism of an individual holding the title of certified translator, terminologist or interpreter.
OTTIAQ will offer preferential rates to members in good standing of the NTE who register for an activity or subscribe to a service organized by OTTIAQ, where such rates are provided. Conversely, the RTE undertakes to offer preferential rates to OTTIAQ members who register for an activity or subscribe to a service organized by the NTE, where such rates are provided.
